What Do You Mean By "Chasing Lions"?

Well it's all about this guy in the Bible named Benaiah who was a bodyguard for King David. He was a radical "outside the box" kind of guy to be sure! He doesn't get much recognition, but he's there and anyone who makes the cut to be included in the Bible must be worth a look. See, Benaiah once killed an Egyptian with the guy's own spear, so we know he was strong. He also killed a lion in a pit on a snowy day. Today, Christmas Day, 2010, is a snowy day. It's also the day I have determined to live each day of my life seeking out divine appointments, looking for opportunities to hear God's voice, to follow His leading rather than my own. I want MY desires to be in line with His desires for my life. So, if you want to, you're welcome to follow my tracks in the snow as I look for lions to kill in snowy pits, or whatever opportunities come my way. You can be sure there will be many more times of failure than success. Sometimes knowing you're doing better than someone else can build your confidence. In that case, you'll like me...I am good at being average, but I love and follow a supernatural, omniscient, omnipotent, all-loving, God. When I allow Him to have control and work through my life, I expect miracles and I intend to share His glory every chance I get! Got your spear? Cmon, let's go!

I'm a Dreamer

Amy
In a word, I'm a dreamer. Someone like Haley Joel Osment from "The Sixth Sense." Remember that classic line, "I see dead people,"? That's me, only I don't see dead people, but I DO see hurt people. I also see smart people and people who need a purpose for living. I see a world full of people who need a Savior. I know I do! Personally, I've been married for nearly 25 years. I'm the mother of four amazing children, who are quickly becoming adults right before my eyes. I'm a teacher currently working in the inner-city with 14 of the funniest, quirkiest, most lovable children in the world. I want to leave a legacy. My dream is that ALL teachers will fully realize the power and privilege of their position in the lives of their students. I want to be a lion chaser no matter where I am or which role I play. I can hear it now..."What does your mommy do?" Sam: "Umm, she's a lion chaser!"
